This program used to be the absolute best bargain with the most power and features for the money.

But now they decided to only allow it to be installed on your boot drive. So they obviously don't understand that a modern computer has an SSD Solid State Drive as the C: drive and this makes the system operate much faster, especially since windows likes to shuttle inactive OS, Program and Screen info.

Since Pinnacle new method uses the install location to store temp video segments for rendered effects it is reducing the life of your SSD. This is why system functions like defragmentation and certain trim functions are turned off by the system in Win 10 to increase the lifespan of the SSD that come on newer computers. So the bottom line is: Do you want an application that by flawed design, lessens the life of your hardware? Do you want an application that has no effective way to resolve problems because of off-shore support that is only in place to appear that there is a support that is offered but will waste hours of your time and still offer no resolution to your problem?

With NO way to call or contact anyone that is closely associated with the creation of the product, you can only hope that you can use it and find workarounds for the bugs the pop up and slow cause your creative process to come to a screeching hault.

Pinnacle suggests you trim that spot. Do that, and it will crash again, at another random spot. It doesn't matter if the spot has effects or is extremely simple and plain- its simply random. Its better to stay away. Pinnacle support is less then helpful. Over the years I owned at least 4 versions of Pinnacle Studio.

I bought the last one when the product was owned by AVID. At a later date Corel has purchased Studio. It appears it cannot validate my ID on Pinnacle website. Corel support answer to my problem: buy the latest version. This is the fist time any software company I worked with flatly refuses to support prior versions of the product. I work for a software company myself and find this approach as a blackmail. As I have mentioned above, I do upgrade from time to time when I can see that new features add on to the usability of the product.

When puchasing any product please consider a longer term implications. Will the company support you 1- or 2 or 3 years from now. There is nothing in the software sales pitch to indicate that you have to buy a new version every year, but apparently Corel has a different opinion. Keep it in mind when buying Pinnacle Studio. When You invest your time in learning this product you are locked and switching to a different vendor will not be easy.

I got this software upgrade for one reason alone - so I could have the capability to make Blu Ray DVDs, which allows for more video to be put on a single DVD since Blu Rays have so much more storage capacity before any loss of picture quality. The first thing I did before burning my video project to disc was create a disc image, THEN I burned the image to disc. Some negative things I experienced while constructing my video project in Pinnacle 19, thus the 4 star rating instead of 5: Pinnacle 19 allowed me to import a video clip from a DVD that would not import while using Pinnacle However, and I've seen a lot of reviews that describe what I'm about to describe the audio faded out and was completely muted at certain points.

What I had to do to fix the problem was extract the audio from a second rate "copy of a copy" Sonata file using Pinnacle 14, then import the audio into my Pinnacle 19 project and layer the audio over the faulty audio, which I muted. Attempting to combine footage from three different cameras caused the software crash repeatedly. Eventually I got to a point where the software crashed as soon as it launched because it was trying to recover a corrupted project.

A reinstall was the only way to get back up and running. I eventually narrowed the problem down to Panasonic G6 footage, which sent the Multi-Camera Editor into a nosedive even though the main editor had no problems with it. Studio Ultimate already scored highly for its effects, particularly in the third-party bundles from Red Giant and NewBlue.

Footage would sometimes play smoothly but at other times drop to around one frame per second.

Even more annoying were the waits of up to 10 seconds for the interface to catch up when making basic timeline edits.

Different hardware and footage will give different results, but in my experience Adobe Premiere Elements and Sony Movie Studio Platinum handle 4K editing more efficiently. Unresponsive controls were often an issue when editing p footage, too.
